Anyone watching the Olympics?

This is going to be a short post 'cuz I'm not feeling too great right now. The Romanians just won the gold medal, Americans silver, Russians bronze in Women's gymnastics. Since I was a little girl, this was my favourite part of the games.

I'm not feeling well because I got two hours of sleep last night. Why, you ask? The short version goes like this. Three months ago I started to notice this pain right over my ribs on the left side. I never quite figured out how I managed to hurt myself like this. But since two days ago it's gotten worse. Today I even bought an ace bandage to wrap around my self. That seems to help, except that when I take it off I swear it hurts more.

Last night, as soon as I went to bed, it hurt at least 10 times more than it had in the past. Lying on my back, I felt all this pain and pressure. I could only sleep in one position without being uncomfortable. It's worst at night.

Now today, I notice it when I stand up after sitting or sit after laying down, after a change in position. You get the drift. And if I take a too deep breath, I instantly regret it. Sitting in this stupid chair doesn not help.

This sucks. I feel like such a weakling.

No, I didn't injure myself with that corset. I exchanged it today and haven't worn it yet. It's not a proper corset anyway.

I'll try ice tonight and maybe that will help. Hopefully I'll actually sleep.

a couple of months? If it was a broken rib it would have healed by now, could be a seperated rib. Do you feel any lumps? Maybe you should get it checked out, probably from moshing too much at a No Doubt concert. The reason that it helps to use the ace wrap is because you're imobilizing it, get a large one if it helps. Take two motrin and call me in the morning, heh, serious, motrin will probably help.

Hey Sean! Whatcha been up to?

The left (sore) side does feel different. I don't know if I can't explain it without sounding daft. It's like the skin is tighter. Not one bump, but five or six tiny ones all in a row. (eeeew, now I'm creeping myself out.)

The ace bandage I bought is five feet long and three inches wide (it goes four and a half times around.) I've been pulling it almost as tight as I can get it to go. It came with two little clippy thingies, but I lost one last night. Now I'm using safety pins.

Motrin, eh? I'll have to try that. Thanks! Many hugs to you! ~Tragic

Sounds like you might have an infection of your lymph ducts, specially if they’re running in a line under the skin, I’d get it checked out. Sorry I’m not around to take a look but I’m just a glorified paramedic that dabbles in medicine. One of the treatments for such a thing is a hot almost scalding wash cloth over the area to break it up, applied as many times as you can per day, at lest 4. Still I’d get it checked out because I haven’t seen it. Should be home in under a week!!!! Are you in southern Cali? Hope it gets better!

Sean- Meh. Might actually have to go to the doctor. I'm still wrapping with the bandgage. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but it feels like it's getting worse.

I'm in San Jose, but my grandma lives in SoCal. You know us Californians, we love to drive.

PS. Thanks for all your advice. I really didn't expect any one to care! ~Tragic
